Interested parties,
I, along with others, would like to communicate with my fellow squadronmates, or others with AJ interests.
Look at reality--We're losing the energy and vigor that we once had --and still think that we can do, like we did !!
We can, if we communicate to each other and realize others exoeriences and dreams.
Give me a yell, or a soft, "Hello", what ever you wish.
Anyone that was a crewman in an AJ surely deserves a "Well done" !!
C'mon aboard and write.

SUBJ: Son of deceased pilot
---
I am McFaddin Moise Jr, sole surving son of Navy Lt. McFaddin Moise. He was an AJ2 Savage test pilot who died on 2/4/1953 on take off.
I have very few details of this crash or of anyone who knew my Dad.
On the web site his name is spelled wrong. You have him listed as McFaddin Hoise, typo with the H. If you could correct that would be great.
If there is anyone out there who knew Mac it would be great to hear the stories, sordid or otherwise.
Likewise every year all the "males" of the Moise Clan gather at the Moise Island in Charleston SC. All friends of the family are invited. Just contact me at mac2.mfg@earthlink.net.
Thanks
McFaddin Moise Jr, father to McFaddin Moise III, Grandfather to McFaddin Moise IV

SUBJECT: BuNo 124854
I am in search of info about AJ Savage of VC-8 Bu# 124854. Thank you
-
Web Editor's note: Carlo is a well known researcher, especially of Cold War incidents in Italy. BuNo 124854 is the aircraft that crashed, killing the crew, in Naples Italy in 1955, and I think is also side # 7 involved in the USS Randolph crash in 1954 (both covered on this website. If anyone has flight log or any info, and you do not feel comfortable e-mailing Carlo, please send it to me, and I'll forward it.

I acquired the original personel files of Donald S. Lindberg from his time in the Naval Academy thru WW2 thru assignment to Armed Forces Special Weapons Project (AFSWP) thru pilot training to Nov. 1953 when he was a Lt. pilot attached to VC-7 assigned TDY to the USS FDR (CVA 42) on a tour of the Medeterranean. And one later item dated Jan 15, 1958 to Lt. Cdr. Lindberg saying he was recommended for promotion to Commander. I would like to uncover his career after 1953. I see you have a webpage on VC-7 at
http://community-2.webtv.net/charles379/USNComposite/page17.html and wonder
if you could recommend someone for me to contact about Donald S. Lindberg.
Also are there any other resources you are aware of that would allow me to track his career after 1953 (I am not related)? I tried a Google search on his name and basically came up empty. I believe from the Social Security Death Index that he died on June 4, 2000 in Virginia.
Thanks.
Paul

Text:
Dear Chuck,
I am an ex aircraft handler from Australia,
i served aboard our last carrier HMAS Melbourne late 70's. I am keen to obtain copies of 'privately filmed' carrier flying footage, squadron or shipboard productions, PLAT footage or hard to get mishap footage to add to my private collection.
If you have footage to swap i have a large collection of mishap clips and other films that may be of interest to you.

Ed Metzger, AFCM, USN, retired
Assigned to VAH-7, Feb 1956 to Dec 1959. Made deployments aboard, USS Lake Champlain, USS Franklin Roosevelt, and USS Essex.
Reported to Heavy 7 straight out of boot camp and made ADR3 before I was transferred. Worked the line crew and was a plane Captain on the AJ-2 aircraft. I left VAH-7 during it's transition from the AJ's to the A3D's.
Have very fond memories of that little town of Sanford and of NAAS Sanford.
Due to timing have made only one of the Sanford reunions. It was when they where held out at Lake Golden. It's a shame too because I only live about 80 miles away in Inverness, FL
Hope to make one in the next year or so.
I'll miss this one 2007, I'll be on a trip with my grand daughter to Colorado Springs and we don't return till the 27th of June.

Were there any nukes stored at the base?
I remember where the ammo bunkers were located just east of the north- south runway, And what was in that bldg that the marine guard was stationed with the fence located in between the NAMTD bldg and the main hangar on the north side. Also i recall a snack shop in the same area.

James J. (Spike) Erdmann, 83 years old, having bad medical problems.
Besides several other problems he had in months past, he now is having something that doctors are unable to diagnose: loses ability to speak for a few second/minutes.
Docs say is not stroke or seizures,. Will try and keep you informed on his condition.
