Hi Res

The 55th Strategic Reconnaissance Wing Association (55th SRWA) Memorial is located in the "Memorial Gardens" at the "National Museum of The United States Air Force" in Dayton, Ohio. The "55th SRW HONOR ROLL" at the base of the monument is reserved for members of the 55th SRW that died in the line of duty during the "Cold War" (2 Sep. 1945 - 26 Dec. 1991). Dedication ceremonies were held on 5 September 2003.

DEDICATED TO
THE VALIANT MEMBERS OF THE
55th STRATEGIC RECONNAISSANCE WING
WHOSE SELFLESS PATRIOTISM AND
DEVOTION TO DUTY CONTRIBUTED
DIRECTLY TO WINNING THE COLD WAR.
THIS MONUMENT STANDS
IN SPECIAL TRIBUTE TO THOSE
WHO PAID THE ULTIMATE PRICE,
AND TO THEIR FAMILIES
WHOSE SACRIFICES CONTINUE.

5 SEPTEMBER 2003

WE MUST NEVER FORGET THAT FREEDOM
IS NEVER REALLY FREE; IT IS THE MOST
COSTLY THING IN THE WORLD.
AND FREEDOM IS NEVER PAID FOR
IN A LUMP SUM. INSTALLMENTS COME
DUE IN EVERY GENERATION. ALL ANY OF
US CAN DO IS OFFER THE GENERATIONS
THAT FOLLOWS A CHANCE FOR FREEDOM.
