Mitch is standing center.
Mitch was piloting the RB-47 above while dodging SAMs in Vietnam. He took a hit on the underside but managed to return safely. Everything held together until they settled on the runway when the wing collapsed.

Hi Res Mitch is far left. The photo above was taken when Mitch was assigned to an EB-47E Tell Two Crew with the 343rd SRS, 55th SRW (Year ?). Their mission was to collect Telemetry data from Soviet ICBMs launched from Tyura Tam and impacting in the Kamchatka test range. |
