My father, Elias Cross, served in the 14th AAF in China. He died on April 13 2013 in Pennsylvania, almost 95 and sharp as ever. He had been honored by local vets' associations and by college students compiling oral histories. He was proud of his service and his flights over the Hump and of his service as an armaments S Sergeant. He was active in the old association. He will be missed by his wife, three children and seven grandchildren. He was a hero to us till the end.
My dad was in the 14th AF in China. I have a Flying Tigers wall hanging which he brought back and would like to know if anyone here might know how I could go about getting a valuation for it.
I am very proud of him -- and he still talks of the days he served and the great stories of courage and love of the country that resonated throughout our nation back then.
Where has it all gone today?! We all can learn from these great men and women. Do not ever forget them.
My wife Betty, was in China 1946-47. Her dad, James A. O'Brien, Lt. Col.,was stationed there and flew the Hump. Her stories are endless, though she was only 11 at the time. We are all so grateful for Elmer Bukey's work.
