On 1 September 1983, Korean Air Lines Flight 007 (KAL 007) was flying from Anchorage, Alaska to Seoul, South Korea when they strayed off course and entered Soviet airspace. A Soviet SU-15 fighter, piloted by Major Gennadie Osipovich, intercepted and destroyed the Boeing 747 with 269 souls aboard. There were no survivors. |
