Richard P. Reeves, Lt. Col. USAF (Ret.), age 66, Tampa, FL, June 19, 2001.

Preceded in death by brother, Allen Reeves. Survived by his wife, Sylvia A. Reeves; sons, Richard Reeves, Jr., Allen and David Reeves; step-son, Joseph Perez; daughter, Lisa Ann Reeves; stepdaughter, Kathleen Dutton; sister, Rita Schife, Charleston, SC; brother, Ted Reeves, Charleston, SC; sister-in-law, Vivian Reeves; 16 grandchildren; niece, Kim Rodgers; nephew, Allen Reeves.

Dick attended St. Paul. High School in Yonges Island, SC. He skipped his senior year and went to Clemson College and was commissioned into the United States Air Force. During his USAF career, Colonel Reeves will be best remembered by those who served with him as one of six officers who were carefully screened and selected in 1965 by senior officers of the Strategic Air Command for a new Top Secret aerial reconnaissance program called "Lisa Ann", an RC-135E which carried aloft the world's most powerful airborne radar and was the most expensive single-type aircraft then flying in the USAF inventory. Colonel Reeves was a dual rated USAF Master Navigator and Electronic Warfare Officer (EWO), having flown as a combat crewmember on the B-58 in addition to the RC-135E.

Dick had a far reaching effect on everyone and a profound presence in his family life and military life. He will be sorely missed.

A funeral Mass was held for the repose of his Soul on Saturday, June 23 at St. Mary Catholic Church, 15520 N. Boulevard, Tampa, FL 33613. Graveside Funeral Services were held on June 25 with full Military Honors at the Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell, FL.
